MEETINGS FOR THE ITINERARY PROMOTION

Open Call Meeting – Brussels February the 5th 2016

The 13th of June 2016 at the Choco-Story Brussels, was held the Table of Sustainability of C.H.I.E.L.I. project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity” for Belgium at the Museum “Choco-Story Brussels” in Brussels, Belgium.

During  the meeting the different routes for Belgium and what The Chocolate Way reached to do and how the members can get involved in the route near to their activity was explained.

There were also explained the coming activities in 2016 en 2017.  In particular three main events in which  The Belgian Chocolate Way will be involved were discussed: The chocolate fair in Verviers, the “Salon du chocolat” in Brussels and the International chocolate awards.

Open call meeting – Cuneo March 21st 2016

On March 21st 2016, it was held the Open Call Meeting of C.H.I.E.L.I.  Project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity” in Cuneo (Italy) during the ceremony of of the Award ceremony of Ospitalità Italiana, one of the Italian Quality Tourism mark recognize all around the world.

There were more of seventy tourism enterprises (local tour agency, hotel, restaurant, chocolate companies, Hostels)

The President of the chambers of commerce of Cuneo Ferruccio Dardanello  introduces the possibility to the territory of Cuneo to be part of CHIELI PROJECT for its important as an historical and traditional  production chocolate district.

Besides It was described the potentialities and the consequences for the territory and for the operators of joining the network that the project is building and developing.: If they have certain quality characteristics identified by the partnership, they will apply and become part of the offer promoted by the itinerary helping to enrich it and promoting their activities.

Open Call Meeting – Modica December 7th 2015

On 7th December 2015, within the event ChocoModica at the Auditorium Pietro Floridia, it was held the Open Call Meeting of C.H.I.E.L.I. Project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity”, funded by the European Commission.

As evidence of the great importance of the initiative, were present at the work table the representatives of the highest regional and local institutions including the Hon. Giuseppe Lupo, Vice President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, Ignazio Abbate, Mayor of Modica and Linguanti George, Vice Mayor of Modica.

Antonino Scivoletto, Director of the Consorzio di Tutela del Cioccolato di Modica and Grazia Dormiente, Cultural Director of the same Consortium, one of the main promoters of the project The Chocolate Way, as well as Francesco Frasca Polara, President of the Tourist Consortium of Modica, Vincenzo Russo, director of the research Centre of the University IULM, Giovanni Guerrieri of the Association of Tourism Promotion Sud Tourism and Paolo Failla of Palazzo Failla Hotel, also participated at the event.

Participated finally by Skype, Enrico Ducrot, CEO of Viaggi dell’Elefante, WP2 Leader, who presented the market analysis carried out always acting within the project.

The goal of the meeting was to explain the project and the objectives. In particular, to develop a tourist and cultural route linked to chocolate in the Eastern Sicily, declining into action the larger project of the European chocolate Route.

For this, it was the first of a series of meetings which will aim to achieve the prestigious and coveted goal, recognizing the city of Modica as capital of the district of chocolate in Sicily.

Open Call Meeting- Perugia 3rd June 2016

During the meeting the speakers explain the project, the activities and the possible repercussions for the operators participating in the network that is being built.

In terms of local marketing the Councilor of the Municipality of Perugia explains how much can be strategically to develop a chocolate route for Perugia which has an industrial history tied to this product (Baci Perugina) and in which one of the biggest events International on the chocolate takes place (Eurochocolate).

Even for the General Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce of Umbria the investment in this sector is vital to develop strategic policies for the promotion of the area.

For the referent of Federalberghi it will be useful and effective to involve the tourism operators in this process to contribute to the quality of the hospitality of the territory and to make more attractive the regional system.

The contact person involved in the project activities in the Tourism and cultural Unit of the Municipality explains one possible itinerary linked to the chocolate of the city of Perugia.

The Responsible of the partner project The chocolate Way describes the potentialities and the consequences for the territory and for the operators of joining the network that the project is building and developing.

If they have certain quality characteristics identified by the partnership, they will apply and become part of the offer promoted by the itinerary helping to enrich it and promoting their activities.

All the presents are really interesting to be join in the project.

The meeting ends with a tasting of chocolate specialties produced locally with the collaboration of the University dei Sapori.

Open call meeting – Strasbourg April 8th 2016

On April the 8th 2016 was held the Open Call Meeting of C.H.I.E.L.I. Project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity” for France at the C.E.F.P.P.A Adrien Zeller “Centre Européen de Formation et de Promotion Professionnelle par Alternance pour l’Industrie Hôtelière” in Illkirch Graffenstaden near Strasbourg. A Skype connection was settled with town Le Castellet and other partners from France and Belgium. Institutions, companies, tourism associations, specialized journalists for sweets attended the event.

Ilaria Tamburi, representative of The Chocolate Way, starts introducing the story in general, the idea and the Chocolate Way project evolution as well as the application to the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and the results obtained. She also insists on the C.H.I.E.L.I. project, giving much relevance to the objectives and results to be achieved.

After approaching chocolate image in Alsace, Tony Valentini gave the floor to André Stengel, member of the Board of Director of The Chocolate Way for France, representative of the Académie Française du Chocolat et de la Confiserie and of the Confédération des chocolatiers confiseurs de France. His son, Arnaud Stengel, develops the stakes of the Alsatian Chocolate Route, already existing, which will be a base for the itinerary in Alsace.

Lucie Munch, in charge of touristic project at the Chocolate Museum, introduces the Chocolate Way in France by talking about French consumption and reminding in the same time the selection criteria to participate to the itinerary. Then, she presents the different chocolate offers in France divided in 3 categories: product, culture and tourism. She explains these offers are united in subitineraries identified in different regions and brings up the marketing and communication tools which may be used for the Chocolate Way in France.

Finally, Dominique Blanc, elected representative of European business in Le Castellet, raise the questions of durability and feasibility of the project and the difficulties in PACA region.

The meeting ends with a question time from all participants and the share of The Chocolate Way contact details, to get more information about application for chocolate actors that are interested.

Open call meeting –Tubingen 1st December

On 1st December 2015 it was held the first Open Call Meeting of C.H.I.E.L.I.  Project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity” in Tübingen, for the inauguration of the tenth edition of Chocolart 2015,the most important open-air chocolate exhibition of Germany.

The Meeting was held in the boardroom of the Municipality of Tubingen.

Institutions, companies, tourism associations, specialized journalists for sweets and confectioners (german-wide), participated at the event.

It was introduced the story in general, the idea and the evolution of the project of The Chocolate Way, the application to the Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and the results obtained.

Sofia Roussou of Tübingen Erleben GmbH, partner of the C.H.I.E.L.I. project and organizer of “chocolART – Germanys biggest chocolate festival”, tells how the project can join the territory using a mix of success based on  a proposal that combines culture – gastronomy – tourism that can’t meet only a local tourism but also open up new markets.

It is also proposed the case history of “chocolart” event that allows to understand exactly how, following this mix, it was enhanced the cultural heritage of Tübingen with over 300,000 visitors in five days.

Intervenes at this point Mr. Schwarz, owner of the company Tübingen Erleben GmbH and initiator of the exhibition Chocolart.

Mr. Schwarz emphasizes that gastronomy culture and historical locations are one of the keys to the success of integrated tourism proposal that works.

He also notes that the collaboration between institutions, companies and trade associations is very important as in fact testifies the success of Chocolart.

Open call meeting – Alicante-Spain JUNE 28th 2016

On 28th June 2016, it was held the Open Call Meeting of C.H.I.E.L.I.  Project “Chocolate Heritage in European Life and Identity” in Alicante, organized by the Chocolate Way Association and the Turron, Chocolate and Derivatives of the Valencian Community Association (TDC), as host body of the day. The Meeting was held at the headquarters of the Regulatory Council Jijona and Turrón de Alicante within the events planned in the 75th anniversary of this entity, in the Municipality of “Jijona, the Birthplace of Turron”.

This day served to officially present society and the commitment between agents and provincial operators interested in giving birth and develop, as a tool for regional sustainable development, cultural tourist itinerary, “La Ruta del Turrón y del Chocolate de Alicante – Costablanca” (Costablanca – Alicante Turrón and Chocolate Route” with the commitment of institutions , companies, tourism associations, specialized journalists for sweets and confectioners (Spanish-wide), who participated at the event to engage in open line of work under the supervision of the Tourist Board Costablanca.
