Chocolate is an opportunity to rediscover the historical places of the European Chocolate Tradition, through the promotion of a cultural and sustainable tourism that enhances local productions and the tangible and intangible heritage of the memory of the people and of the cities involved.
For this reason The Chocolate Way promotes a network of chocolate festival that are organized in beautiful historic centers of European cities and UNESCO sites with a strong historical tradition on chocolate.
These festivals promote the brand of The Chocolate Way and host several cultural initiatives linked to the Network.
To give you some examples we indicate:
- CHOCOMODICA (ITALY) – Consorzio di Tutela del Cioccolato di Modica
ChocoModica is the biggest chocolate event of Sicily, with nearly 58,000 people that attended the event in 2014 and 100.000 in 2015, participating in conferences, guided tastings, laboratories for adults and children. The aim of the event was to promote the historical link between the Sicilian city and its chocolate tradition of high quality.
The event is organized by the Consorzio di Tutela del Cioccolato di Modica, member of The Chocolate Way.
- CHOCOLART (GERMANY) – Schwarz & Gehilfen
The Chocolate-Festival “ChocolART” in Tübingen and the “chocolART” in Wernigerode/Harz are two of the most important events dedicated to chocolate in Germany and Europe. Nearly 300.000 visitors came last year to the ChocolART in Tübingen. Many international websites, magazines and newspapers reported and announced the chocolate festival. Bus-travel organization from all the Europe has listed the festival in their travel offer.
The organizers, Schwarz & Gehilfen, an agency of cultural event, member of The Chocolate Way, have built tourism packages especially regarding for tourists coming by bus, http://www.chocolart.de/tour-angebote/, but also for individual tourists http://tuebingen-info.de/individualreisende/angebote-chocolart-2015.html#c2619 (not travelling in groups) in cooperation with the local tourism office
- RADOVLJICA FESTIVAL (SLOVENIA) – Radovljica Tourist Board
Organized by a member of The Chocolate Way, the Radovljica Tourist Board, the Festival Cokolade is the first and the biggest chocolate event in Slovenia, organized annually in April in the old town center of Radovljica.
Chocolatiers from Slovenia and abroad take part in the festival, as well as numerous confectioners offering chocolate-related products and dishes. As in previous years, the Festival will take place in 2015 in the Radovljica Mansion and in Linhart Square and this year, due to overwhelming interest and the huge number of visitors in previous years, the Festival will be extended to the nearby Radovljica Park and its surroundings.
This year will be held a Chocolate Fun Area for children with creative workshops and entertainment; for adults there will also be culinary workshops and an evening Chocolate Party.
- SWEET DAYS FESTIVAL BUDAPEST (HUNGARY) – Edes Napok
Organized by a member of The Chocolate Way, Edes Napok, the Sweet Days Festival of Budapest is the Hungary’s most important chocolate and sweets festival, featuring the best-known artisan and chocolate manufacturers, confectionaries and well-known world brands.
With its nearly one hundred thematic exhibitors and 30 thousand visitors, Sweet Days is Europe’s fifth largest chocolate and sweets festival at the moment. Each year the festival has a venerated professional guest of honor from abroad.
In addition to the professional programs, workshops and courses held during the day, entertaining family programs, popular music bands and performers ensure a whole day’s program. Besides the delicious sweets, the gastronomic offer of the festival is made complete by dishes from renowned restaurants, noble wines and excellent drinks. It is the sweetest gastronomic and cultural program in Hungary.
- CIOCCOLATO’ (ITALY) – Laboratorio Chimico della Camera di Commercio di Torino
CioccolaTò Festival is a unique opportunity to learn and to explore about the chocolate making tradition of Turin and of the Piedmont and to have fun with many activities proposed: meetings with exerts, chocolate tastings, cultural activities and entertainment, recreational and educational initiatives for children, related to international and made in Italy chocolate.
The event, which take place in the elegant setting of Piazza San Carlo, is sponsored by one of the member of The Chocolate Way, the Laboratorio Chimico della Camera di Commercio di Torino.
- EUROCHOCOLATE (ITALY) – Gioform srl
Eurochocolate was founded in Perugia in 1994 and it’s the most important European open air event in the chocolate sector with a more than 600 thousands visitors every year.
- SALON DU CHOCOLAT
The Chocolate Way participates with a stand and exhibitions at the Salon du Chocolat in Brussels and Paris.
Salon du Chocolat represents one of the most important chocolate event in the world and we participated every year with different activities, exhibitions (Eros, Amour et Chocolat), presentation of the network (on February 2016 in Brussels and on October 2016 at Salon of Paris).
- XOCOLATISSIMA 2016: CHOCOLATE PARTY ALICANTE (VILLAJOYOSA – LA VILA)
On 11 and 12 August was held the 2016 edition of Xocolatissima festival in Villajoyosa (Alicante), with tastings, chocolate courses, guided tour of museums chocolate city and many other activities.
