  • Visit a historical enterprise of nougat production: Antica Torroneria Piemontese at Gallo Grinzane.
  • Visit to the Castle of Grinzane Cavour and Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, in a journey through history, great wines and truffles.
  • Free lunch.
  • In the afternoon, visit the showroom of a company specializing in the production of chocolate and other local products, including specialties Tartufo Bianco d’Alba: Tartuflanghe, Piobesi d’Alba.

  • Lunch in a typical restaurant with tasting menu.
  • Transfer to Cherasco, city of art and culture, known for snails, the chocolate and the flea markets.

Day 1: Barcelona -Sant Sadurní d’Anoia-Barcelona
  • AM: Arrival to Barcelona Airport. Meeting and transfer to Sant Sadurní d’Anoia.
  • The town of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia is located in the Alt Penedés region of Catalonia, Spain. The town is situated inland, between Barcelona and Tarragona, but it is still close by the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
  • AM Visit Simón Coll Chocolate Experience.
  • Simón Coll is an Artisan chocolates and candies factory since 1840 with shop and exhibition space for sightseeing.
  • AM Short visit to the Historic Center
  • Then lunch in the Sant Sadurní
  • PM: Guided tour of the Codorniu, Gramona or other of the several historic wine and cava cellars.  Visit the winery with explanation of Cava production process and including cava tasting.
  • PM: Transfer to Barcelona and overnight in a hotel in Barcelona Historic Centre or surroundings.
Day 2: Barcelona La Ribera quarter and La Rambla
  • AM Visit Museu Xocolata.
  • AM Visit Born Cultural Centre La Ribera quarter.
  • Short walk through La Ribera quarter, seeing some of the buildings dated from late Medieval times. It was a well-to-do quarter during 13th–15th centuries, when it really was by the sea shore. Notable buildings are the Basilica de Santa Maria del Mar and the palaces along Montcada street, including the Picasso Museum.
  • Lunch in Barceloneta
  • PM  Boquería Market
  • PM visit to Escribá: Famous pastry and chocolate shop located in La Rambla with spectacular Modernist/Art Nouveau façade. They make sweets, chocolates and artistic chocolates. Established in 1906.
  • PM: Walk in La Rambla and visit to Granja Viader. “Granja” (Farm) Viader was established in 1870. “Farms” in Barcelona were places where customers could buy and taste fresh milk and milk related products.  One of the most representative breakfasts or afternoon snacks in this places until nowadays is hot chocolate (chocolate a la taza) served with pastries (melindros, ensaimadas, carquiñolis, churros). In Granja Viader we can make a taste of them.

Day 3: Barcelona Passeig de Gràcia and Modernism/Art Noveau
  • Am  Passeig de Gràcia, Casa Ametller I la Pedrera. Meeting at Catalunya Square. Then walk to Passeig de Gràcia.
  • Passeig de Gràcia is one of the major avenues in Barcelona and one of its most important shopping and business areas, containing several of the city’s most celebrated pieces of architecture. Two of them, related with chocolate history in Barcelona will be visited.

Un giorno intero a Marsiglia e a Le Castellet

Departure from Marseilles. (Timings are given as an example)

9h – Visit and tasting at the Sao Tomé Emabassy. Drive to Cassis by the sightseeing road of the Gineste. From Cassis drive on the highway to Le Castellet.

11h – Arrival at Le Castellet. Short tour of the village with various tastings buy the chocolate makers, the bakery La femme du boulanger, the cookie shop Péché gourmand, the tearoom la Lézarde.

12h30 – Lunch at the gastronomic restaurant Le Saint Eloi or at the La Cantina restaurant, both of them are perfectly located in the village,

or take back of the car to the Castellet Racetrack (15mn drive) and lunch to the gastromic two Michelin stars restaurant Montecristo, chez Christophe Bacquié, into the hotel “Le Castellet”, in front of the racetrack where the Bol d’Or takes places.

14h30 – Departure back to Marseille by the highway.

15h15 – Arrival at the Old Port of Marseille close to the Mucem corner (Museum of the Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean see). Enjoy visiting the area, see the Saint-Laurent 12th century fishermen’s church, the perfectly restaured 17th century fort Saint-Jean, the Villa Méditerranée, a master piece of architecture by Stefano Boeri. Free time inside the National Museum the MUCEM, large metallic building by Rudy Ricciotti. The museum offers permanent and temporary exhibitions.

17h – Teatime at the Môle Passedat, a sumptuous terrace in the heart of the museum.

Take the car back for a panoramic tour of Marseilles (« Notre Dame de la Garde » basilica, “JF. Kennedy” seaside avenue, “Canebière” main street).

20h – Diner at the Intercontinental into the ancient 18th century « Hôtel Dieu », located in the oldest Marseille district, le “Panier”.

Guided tour of the UNESCO world patrimony city center. The amphitheater and the roman heritage, the ancient Saint Trophime cathedral (a master piece of Romanesque facade sculptures) and discovery of the life of Vincent Van Gogh settled here in 1888 and 1889. Stop by the chocolate shop Les délices du Sud and the pastry Leblanc. End of the tour by the Rhône river banks.

From Arles, drive to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence passing by the abbey of Montmajour and also Fontvieille where the windmill of Alphonse Daudet stands.

Arrival to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.

Have a walk in the native city of Nostradamus, visit the huge neo-classical church Saint-Martin. This little city, symbol of the provençal lifestyle is perfect for a relaxing walk in the narrow steets of its old center and by the small squares full of fountains, especially when it is the market day (Wednesday and Saturday).

Lunch in the center to enjoy local specialities made with goat cheese or local vegetables. Provence was called the “French garden” during the middle ages.

Arrival at Chateaurenard. Visit of the feudal castle, an ancient fortress of the Counts of Provence. The visiting path is leading to a beautiful panorama and a gorgeous garden.

Teatime at the pastry Hawecker, then drive to Aix-en-Provence by the highway (A7).

Guided tour of Aix-en-Provence : The Cours Mirabeau where you can taste the special sweet of the city invented by the cooker of the last King of Provence, King René, in 1471 : « les calissons » ; the Mazarin neighborhood with its luxurious palaces and mansion-houses, the Place des Prêcheurs and the approaches to the ancient jail.   • In the evening drive back to Sanary-sur-Mer passing by Bandol.
