Stuttgart is spread across surrounding hills. It is very green and often you will spot vineyards and parks. Stuttgart is surprising. Being the cradle of the automobile one expects an industrial city and gets so much more. But you’ll also find historic architecture as well as exclusive art exhibitions and a world class ballet.
Ludwigsburg, the baroque residence city is situated just north of Stuttgart and worth visiting. But we will follow the route southwards to Lake Constance, making a stopover in Waldenbuch.
Nearby we will arrive at Tübingen, a historic university town with a charming architectonic flair combined with a versatile cultural life in a lovely setting. Making a punt tour on the Neckar admiring the view to the “Neckar Front” – one of the loveliest scenes portraying medieval architecture is only one possibility the city offers. Make a trip to Bebenhausen Cistercian Monastery on the Way of St. James, visit chocolART – Germanys biggest chocolate festival in December, situated amidst the medieval city center, illuminated by artificial chocolate motifs after sunset, taste the “Tübinger Kirschle” – a praline combining the ingredients of the world most famous “Black Forest Cake”.
Before ascending the Swabian Mountains we will stop in Hechingen to visit one of the most famous castles of Germany, Hohenzollern Castle, the ancestral seat of the imperial House of Hohenzollern.
Charming Bad Urach is a spa town combining a historic town center and it is the birthplace of the famous “Brezel” first baked in Bad Urach. The town is a Castle Residence, home of the Counts of Württemberg-Urach.
Another castle worth visiting is situated right on the edge of the Swabian Mountains, romantic and lovely situated Lichtenstein Castle. Following the route by ascending the Swabian Mountains we will find an impressing biosphere reserve and the GeoPark with wonderful caves, lush nature and lots of gastronomic and chocolate destinations characterized by the splendid regional products with focus on quality and sustainability.
From the Swabian Alps we follow the route to Lake Constance, Friedrichshafen home of the “Zeppelin”. A Zeppelin-Tour, a visit of the Zeppelin Museum Friedrichshafen with the largest aviation collection and a stopover in a fine café with handmade chocolates complete the itinerary.
